Amelia & Javi

Delighted to receive such a glowing Spanish wedding planner testimonial from Amelia and Javi about their beach wedding in Cadiz.

Wedding Date: 05.09.19
Location: Hotel Varadero, Zahara de los Atunes, Cadiz, Spain
Theme: 90s retro Miami beach
Service: Destination wedding planning

“I’m from London and Javi is from Cadiz but we live in Barcelona. We knew we wanted a beach wedding in the South of Spain but couldn’t see how we could organise such a big event from a distance. And we didn’t have time to spend emailing and calling suppliers. We also weren’t entirely sure what kind of questions we should be asking nor what prices and packages were reasonable.

We knew we needed support from someone that plans destination Spanish weddings, who could translate how we felt about the day into how we would experience it. Essentially, we began to feel a bit out of our depth.

My maid of honour put me in contact with Sophie. Immediately the conversations were less about specifically what table cloth colour we wanted, what type of flower, what first dance song and more about what we hoped to feel like on the day and what lasting impression we wished to give our guests.

From our first chat, she completely understood our brief. Javi and I are both designers and we’d chosen the rather bizarre mishmash of “90s retro Miami beach”. Even for us, this was hard to translate, so we thought our goal was going to be almost impossible to achieve. But at every step Sophie brought original ideas, and second guessed our vision. I have to say, I was always a little skeptical of wedding design and disliked feeling that you have to have some things because it’s a wedding – a table plan, a guest book etc. We were both a bit concerned it wouldn’t feel like us. But Sophie brought an originality to every single tiny element of the whole day, researching, presenting and organising such incredibly unique ideas. Our table plan was a phenomenal display of pastel strayed pineapples that all guests wanted to have their photos taken in front of, and our guest book was hundreds of coloured ribbons hanging from a tree where guests could write and attach their messages.

What Sophie gave us was the ability to truly enjoy our wedding day. She took the stress away and allowed us the time to breath and indulge and laugh and dance and be free to feel the emotion and love of an event that meant so much to us and our family.

Without all of what Sophie brought to both the planning, the preparation and the day, our wedding just would not have been what it was – the most fun, emotional, enjoyable, personal day of our lives. From start to finish it was a thousand times more brilliant than what we’d dreamed of.”
